Radio Libertad
Radio Libertad is an independent radio station
broadcasting music and current affairs across the whole
of San Doloroso. Founded in Toronja in 1926 to provide
impartial news and information, the station has had a
troubled history. It was banned completely during
the presidency of Miguel Vicente
Ladrón (1956-1990)
and only resumed broadcasting in 1990 as the result of
considerable international pressure. The famous art deco
building from which it currently broadcasts on Avenida
58 Sur was partially destroyed by a terrorist bomb in
November 1990.
