Simón Doloroso (1792-1827)

Simón Doloroso was the charismatic revolutionary figure who led San Doloroso to independence from Spain in the early nineteenth century. The son of a slave who worked in the silver mines of Cerro Pobre, little is known of his early life.

He was assassinated in 1827 at the age of 35.
